The nation of Israel is unique among all the nations of the world

God chose us from among all the nations of the world,
and we have a higher status as a nation. Therefore,
our relationships with Jewish people ought to be different in some way
from our relationships with people who are not Jewish,
and it is appropriate to show preferential treatment to Jews
(for example, when choosing whom to hire for a job).
But what about the rights of all human beings to be treated as equals?

Even though we are an am segulah,
we must keep in mind the importance of equality and the human right to life.
It is forbidden to discriminate against non-Jews in favor of Jews,
because doing so violates human dignity. In other words,
the fact that Jews are an am segulah does not mean we can show preferential treatment for Jews
(for example, when choosing whom to hire for a job)
